Fancy Forest - 67"x91" and 35"x47" Animal Sampler Quilt Pattern by Elizabeth Hartman
Elizabeth Hartman sample quilt is made using fat quarters of Robert Kaufman Fabrics' Kona Solids. The pattern includes a fabric chart with easy-to-follow letter and number codes to ensure that you can duplicate my fabric placement exactly or, if you're usingdifferent fabric, distribute it evenly throughout the quilt. When selecting fat quarters for the Fancy Forest quilt, choose colorful fabrics in sets of 5 monochromatic fat quarters each. The quilt will be most successful if the fabrics in each set include a value scale from lightest (Fabric 1) to darkest (Fabric 5). A list of Kona Solid fabrics is included in the pattern. My background fabric is Robert Kaufman's Essexyarn-dyed linen blend in Taupe. My white and dark block detail fabrics are Kona Snow and Espresso. Because of the wide variety of blocks and colors used in Fancy Forest, you will not end up using the same amount of each fat quarter and, in some cases, will have fabric left over. If you prefer, you can easily substitute scraps or odd-sized fabric from your stash for the colorful fat quarters. The instructions for each of the block designs include a complete list of cutpieces for each block, so it's easy to use scraps or make blocks for other projects.
